Computer shuts off after booting.?
I’ve been building computers for years, but this current one is driving me nuts. It’s an MSI P6N Diamond mobo, QX6850 proc, MSI 8800 Ultra video card, 2 gigs of dominator ddr2 800 ram, deskstart 1tb sata hdd. The first round I thought it was the proc and mobo so I rma’d them and newegg sent me new ones. Now, same thing happens. I turn on the computer and even before it posts, it shuts off. Probably 5 seconds after I hit the power switch. I noticed a few pins in the cpu slot that may be slightly bent, but I don’t think that’s it. I’m thinking it’s the psu. It’s a Silencer 750 quad, which has great reviews, but it’s the one variable I haven’t checked. Could also be not enough thermal paste, so I’ll try that tomorrow, too, but I wondered what everyone here thought.
Just guessing, I’d say incompatible memory. Try removing the memory and starting see what happens.
